AVS recently broadcast a report on the new 3D skin scan that we at Clinique Dermatologie Gent are the first in Belgium to use. This advanced technology maps the entire body in a single second and allows us to analyse every detail of the skin in high resolution. The device is an important step forward in the preventive detection of skin cancer.
Unlike systems that assess only one mole, the 3D skin scan captures a complete image of the skin. This lets us examine every spot accurately and compare them again later. Even small changes are noticed sooner, which considerably strengthens follow-up.
The examination itself is simple. The patient stands briefly in the device, which then combines several images into a complete 3D model of the body. From there, we can zoom in on specific areas or take additional close-up images when a spot needs extra attention.
Thanks to this technology, we can guide patients even more precisely and detect early skin changes more quickly.
