Morpheus8 is a skin-firming treatment that became popular through celebrities and social media. In HLN, Dr Joren Brassine of Clinique Dermatologie Gent explains how it works.
The device combines microneedling with radiofrequency heat in the deeper layers of the skin. This stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, making the skin firmer without major changes to the face. After the treatment, the skin is briefly red and slightly swollen; several sessions are usually needed, and the result becomes visible after a few weeks. The technique is also used for acne and acne scars.
Which treatment is most suitable depends on the skin: where there is a lot of volume loss, other techniques are sometimes more appropriate. This is best assessed by a specialised doctor.
