Regretting fillers or microblading: why does it happen?

Knack Weekend investigated why some people come to regret cosmetic treatments such as fillers and microblading. The clinic explains that a hyaluronic acid filler adds volume and is broken down by the body over time. Filler migration, especially in the lips, is more common with permanent fillers and also depends on the amount, the area and the aftercare. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved if necessary.

Microblading is a semi-permanent tattooing technique for the eyebrows. Because the skin is damaged in the process, scarring, discolouration or pigment residue can develop over time. Ink containing titanium makes later laser removal more difficult.

The message: don't choose based on a trend, get properly informed and go to an experienced practitioner.

Key advice

  • Choose an experienced practitioner who informs you properly beforehand.

  • Strictly follow the aftercare advice after a filler treatment.

  • Let your choice depend on your own preference, not on a trend.
