De Morgen looked into why more and more men are opting for Botox®, also known abroad as 'Brotox'. The doctors at Clinique Dermatologie Gent are seeing this increase in their own practice too. Possible explanations include the wish to feel better and look less tired, the influence of social media and a fading taboo. Preventive treatment is also gaining ground.
In men, it mainly concerns the frown lines, the forehead and crow's feet, with the frown as the most popular area. The product is the same as for women, but the approach differs: men usually want a subtle result, and the doctor takes into account a different facial anatomy and often deeper wrinkles.
