Are Goop's skincare products worth the price?

The skincare products of Goop, Gwyneth Paltrow's brand, are now also available in Belgium. Het Nieuwsblad had several bestsellers and an intimate oil assessed by Dr Griet Voet and a fellow dermatologist.

Dr Voet notes that all the products have long ingredient lists with many plant oils and fragrance, which increases the risk of contact allergy. A natural origin is no guarantee against allergy.

She is critical of the intimate oil: on the sensitive genital skin, fragrances and irritating essential oils such as cinnamon leaf oil are not advisable, and the product is not compatible with condoms. In her view, an ordinary lubricant is a better choice. The peptide serum does contain an interesting ingredient, but the concentration is unknown and pharmacy brands offer comparable formulas for less money.
