Allergies and eczema

Eczema and allergic skin reactions are very common and vary greatly in severity and cause — from atopic eczema and contact eczema to hives (urticaria). At our clinic in Gent, we not only treat the symptoms but also actively look for the underlying cause.

When an allergic cause is suspected, we carry out targeted allergy tests, both prick tests and patch tests, to determine exactly which substances are triggering your skin reactions. This helps us to address recurring or persistent eczema in a targeted way.

For treatment, we use topical therapies, modern systemic therapies and, where indicated, UVB phototherapy. This light therapy can greatly reduce inflammation and is often used for moderate to severe eczema. In this way we create a personalised treatment plan that calms the skin and helps prevent new flare-ups.
