Excessive sweating
Hyperhidrosis treatment

Excessive sweating, or hyperhidrosis, means that your body produces more sweat than is needed to regulate its temperature — often on the armpits, palms, soles of the feet or face, even without exertion or heat. This can have a significant social and professional impact. Fortunately, there are effective and even permanent solutions available today.
Clinique Dermatologie Gent offers several effective treatments, depending on the severity and location of the sweating: topical treatments, medication, botulinum toxin, iontophoresis and MiraDry®. We combine medical expertise with the latest technologies to treat hyperhidrosis in a tailored way.
• MiraDry®: a permanent solution for underarm sweating. A non-invasive treatment that permanently removes the sweat glands in the underarm area. Using controlled microwave energy, the sweat glands are heated and eliminated, without damaging the surrounding skin. Long-lasting effect after one to two treatments. Read more about MiraDry® here
• Topical treatments: medical creams or lotions containing aluminium salts or other active ingredients.
• Medicinal therapy: tablets that temporarily reduce sweat production.
• Botulinum toxin injections (Botox®): temporarily block the nerve signals that activate the sweat glands, particularly effective under the armpits, in the palms of the hands or the soles of the feet.
• Iontophoresis: a treatment in which a mild current reduces sweating of the hands or feet, a safe and proven method.
