Is it better to shower in the morning or the evening?
Radio 2, 24 March 2024
Dr Griet Voet on Radio 2: does it matter whether you shower in the morning or the evening? What counts for dry or eczema-prone skin.

On Radio 2, Dr Griet Voet answered the question of whether it is better to shower in the morning or the evening. There is little scientific research on the subject; the right time depends mainly on personal preference. A morning shower can help you wake up, an evening shower can help you fall asleep.
More important than the time is how you shower. If you have dry, eczema-prone skin, keep your shower short and not too hot, and apply a moisturiser afterwards. If you don't like getting dressed with moisturiser on, you can opt for the evening. The products also make a difference: for dry skin she recommends a shower oil, which matters less for acne-prone skin.
Key advice
The time of your shower matters little; choose what suits you.
For eczema-prone skin: keep showers short and not too hot.
Moisturise dry skin after showering.
Use a shower oil if you have dry skin.
